Quick Answer: It’s possible that the premium version of the iPhone 15 will have four cameras. At present, this phone could be called the iPhone 15 Ultra (previously Pro Max).

With the iPhone 15 slated for release in the fall of this year, many people wonder what we can expect from the phone’s cameras.

There are many rumors and leaks surrounding the potential cameras on the iPhone 15. One leak claims that Apple has partnered with Sony for new and improved sensors to help reduce under and overexposure.

Additionally, there’s word going around that the iPhone 15 will have a potential array of four rear cameras. So, is that true?

Will the iPhone 15 have four cameras?

Short answer: The iPhone 15 Ultra is rumored to have four rear cameras, including a periscope lens with reported 6x zoom.

Many analysts believe the iPhone 15 Ultra, the highest-end model of Apple’s next phone replacing the ‘Pro Max’ naming convention, will feature a four-camera array on the back.

That array will consist of a 48MP wide lens, a 12MP Ultra-wide lens, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a new periscope lens with up to 6x zoom.

Rumors of the new periscope lens on the iPhone 15 Ultra started last year. We first heard of the lens before the iPhone 14 even came out. Trusted insider Ming-Chi Kuo first claimed that Apple was adding a new lens to its premium iPhone.

The periscope lens will be limited to the Ultra this year, but the other models aren’t left behind.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are rumored to upgrade to the 48MP wide lens main camera. That’s a significant boost over the 12MP option in iPhone 4.

And the iPhone 15 Pro will likely keep the 3x zoom telephoto lens this year. Many analysts believe that the Pro and Ultra models will feature the periscope lens in the 2024 iPhone.

Of course, this is all just rumor at this point, and Apple has yet to confirm the camera arrays for any iPhone 15 version. We should learn more as we get closer to the official iPhone 15 reveal event in the fall.
