The post New Samsung Galaxy Buds could be in the works, says leak appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
2023 has been quite the year for Samsung. The Korean tech giant started the year with the Galaxy S23, which became a fan-favorite Galaxy S series.

Then, only a month ago, the company held its second Unpacked event of the year, where it launched The Galaxy Tab S9, the Galaxy Watch 6 series, and its foldable smartphone series, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.

And the Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE series are in the pipeline, according to reliable sources, ready to launch by the end of the year.

Now, we are almost in the fourth quarter of the year, and Samsung hasn’t announced a new set of earbuds. The last Samsung Galaxy Buds launched back in 2022, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

The Dutch news outlet Galaxy Club has now revealed new info that indicates a new model of the Samsung Galaxy Buds is in the works. According to the outlet, the new earbuds carry the model number SM-R400N.

Could it really be the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3?

samsung galaxy buds 2 earbuds
Image: Samsung

Naturally, the mind goes to the Galaxy Buds 3, which was rumored to appear at last month’s Unpacked event. It has been almost two years since Galaxy Buds 2 launched. So, we are due for an upgrade.

However, the model number tells a different story. Based on the model number, the new Samsung earbud in development won’t likely be a “Pro” model, as Samsung’s Pro earbuds line uses “SM-R5xxx” as the standard model number.

The likely possibility the leaked device is an intermediary variant. In the past, Samsung has launched intermediary devices before launching a new iteration. So, the SM-R400N model could be something in between — Galaxy Buds 2 Plus or even a “Fan Edition.”

The Fan Edition theory makes sense since Samsung may revamp the FE brand in 2023. After skipping a year, we have a clear indication that the Galaxy S23 FE is in the pipeline alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. A pair of Fan Edition earbuds would go well with those.

Unfortunately, we don’t have enough information to draw a conclusion. New leaks will surely appear in the coming weeks. Until then, all we can say is that Samsung is working on a new earbud which likely will not be part of the “Pro” line.

Samsung made an unexpected decision in 2022. The company suddenly decided to decrease the battery capacity of the Galaxy S22 series. While the Galaxy S21 featured a 4,000 mAh battery capacity, on the Galaxy S22, it dropped to 3,700 mAh.

As suspected, the battery life suffered, and fans were not happy. Samsung tried to rectify the decision by slightly increasing the battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 series, but it still lacked behind the Galaxy S21

Bigger battery for the Galaxy S24 series

Samsung Galaxy S24 series expected to feature bigger battery

The latest report from the Dutch publication Galaxy Club suggests Samsung could finally be bringing bigger batteries to its flagship phone series.

According to the publication, next year’s Samsung Galaxy S24 could feature a 4,000 mAh battery, which is the same capacity as the Galaxy S21, and accompanied by more efficient chipsets; the S24 could feature even better battery life.

The report indicates the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus might also get the same treatment. The Galaxy S24 Plus could come with a 4,900 mAh battery, a 200 mAh increase from the current Galaxy S23 Plus.

If the information is correct, the S24 Plus could feature the biggest battery in the history of the Samsung Galaxy Plus models. The Galaxy S21 Plus featured a 4,800 mAh battery.

Lastly, the leader of the pack, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, should stick to its huge 5,000 mAh battery. Of course, these are all early leaks, so be sure to take them with a grain of salt, as Samsung could change its decisions before launch.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to arrive in early 2024, so we still have a long way to go.

The post Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 leaks less than a month after Z Flip 5 launch appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
Samsung just launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 late last month with the giant cover display being one of the few major upgrades. However, the flip phone still has the dual 12MP + 12MP camera setup.

GalaxyClub has some good news for the Galaxy Z Flip fans. According to the news outlet, the Korean tech giant is already in the early stages of testing the Galaxy Z Flip 6, reportedly with a prototype 50MP main camera.

We have no concrete confirmation on this, and it’s a pretty early leak. So, Samsung may end up ditching this 50MP sensor and stick to the 12MP camera.

If Samsung does end up using this 50MP primary sensor on next year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6, it would be a game changer for the Korean company and the Galaxy Z Flip series.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 desperately needs a camera upgrade

Next Year's Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Could Feature a Much Awaited Camera Upgrade
Image: KnowTechie

Samsung introduced the 12MP primary camera with the first Galaxy Z Flip model back in 2020. Last year, Samsung did improve the primary camera with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 by adding a larger sensor for better low-light photography, but it stuck to the 12MP resolution.

Samsung’s rival OPPO Find N2 Flip already offers a 50MP primary camera, and this year it’s likely to improve further with the OPPO Find N3 Flip, pushing Samsung into a corner.

There are also several advantages of using high-resolution sensors. Due to the higher resolution, the sensors are able to deliver cleaner, brighter shots in low-light scenarios. The snapped photos are also far more detailed in native resolutions and daylight situations.

More importantly, 50MP sensors can deliver digital zoom using image cropping and make 8K recording possible. We hope that Samsung will at least improve the camera hardware on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 next year, as we got next-to-nothing in that department this year.

Amid a storm of leaks, speculations, and rumors, the spotlight has been on One UI 6 for weeks.

Now, the curtain has finally been lifted, and Samsung Galaxy S23 owners in the United States, Germany, and South Korea have something to celebrate. Samsung has officially rolled out its latest One UI 6 beta.

While the beta update was initially scheduled for Thursday, it faced a setback and didn’t arrive until Friday. Samsung is yet to comment on the delay.

“Our mission with One UI is to reflect the unique preferences of our users in every aspect of their mobile experience,” noted Samsung’s Executive VP Janghyun Yoon in a press release. The press release added that it will pay attention to the user feedback on One UI 6 as the South Korean consumer-tech giant creates a “richer, more intuitive experience.”

What is One UI 6

Samsung One UI 6 is the sixth-major upgrade to Samsung’s home-grown Android OS, One UI.

It is built on Android 14 and offers several new and exciting features — from design updates, personalization options to enhanced security and less power consumption.

Typically, Samsung releases the latest and biggest updates to its Galaxy S23 flagships.

Samsung Galaxy S23 One UI 6 Update: What’s new?

  • A new, simplified design: One UI 6 brings a sleeker look with updated icons, fonts, and colors. Quick Pandel has also received a revamp.
  • More personalization options: The latest update gives you more customization options along with different lock screens, wallpapers, and fonts.
  • Enhanced Productivity: You can now pin vital apps to the Recents menu and delay notifications to catch up later.
  • Improved Security and Privacy: A new privacy dashboard lets you keep track of which apps have access to your data. Additionally, you can now set a lock screen for different modes, such as personal or work.

One UI 6 Beta Program: How to join?

As mentioned earlier, the latest One UI 6 beta program is currently exclusive to Samsung Galaxy S23 owners in the United States, Germany, and South Korea . The update is slated for release in other regions soon.

If you’re interested in joining the beta program, simply register through the Samsung Members app. Keep an eye out, as we expect the beta rollout to expand to the rest of Samsung’s devices soon.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series launched in early 2023, and it features the best smartphone cameras of recent times.

However, we are already halfway through the year, which means Samsung is gearing up for the Galaxy S24 series, which is expected to launch sometime in the first quarter of 2024.

That said, multiple rumors about the Galaxy S24 series have already emerged. The latest leak indicates the Galaxy S24 Ultra is potentially in line for a massive camera upgrade.

Galaxy S24 Ultra’s potential telephoto camera upgrade

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may feature a telephoto camera upgrade
Image: KnowTechie

The news comes from prominent leaker Ice Universe, according to whom the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a 50MP 3x telephoto camera. However, take this news with a grain of salt, as this is an early-stage leak and has the potential to be wrong.

Look at the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung’s last flagship smartphone to understand why the telephoto camera will be a major step forward for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The S23 Ultra only has a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. In contrast, its competition, like the Xiaomi 13 Pro, has a 50MP telephoto camera for a 3.2x optical zoom. You can also consider the OnePlus 11, which has a 32MP 2x optical zoom telephoto camera.

In other words, Samsung’s latest and greatest looks pale in comparison. While megapixels are not the only way to judge a sensor’s capability, Samsung has always been the champion of the megapixel race but only for the primary sensors. Sadly, secondary sensors historically haven’t received much attention.

While we love ultrawide cameras, we still believe a telephoto camera is more important because of the portrait mode capabilities. So, we are excited about the Galaxy S24 Ultra telephoto camera upgrade, and you should be too.

Only days ago, Samsung accidentally revealed the existence of its upcoming FE series tablets — the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus.

After that, most recently, a leak showed the Indian pricing of the vanilla Tab S9 FE to be unexpectedly high. And now, we finally have a real-life look at the upcoming Samsung Fan Edition tablets.

New Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE Plus real-life images

News outlet Tabletmonkeys first reported the real-life images of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE Plus. According to the images and the accompanying report, Samsung’s upcoming Android tablets have made their way to the South Korean regulatory agency. The agency was not named, but we did get a few low-quality images of the devices.

The images show the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE Plus next to rulers for measurement. However, the images reveal no other information except for the size of the bezels and the front camera placements.

Early leaks suggested the Tab S9 FE would feature a 10.9-inch display, and the the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus would feature a slightly larger 12.4-inch display. We expect the tablets to feature Samsung’s Exynos 1380 chipset used on mid-range devices.

However, the price leaks revealed the Indian pricing for the standard Tab S9 FE would be Rs 63,000 in India, which converts to around $761 in the US. That is not cheap considering the premium Galaxy Tab S9 starts at $799. However, Samsung products have a higher price in India due to tax issues, so we are still hopeful.

Samsung has advanced the world of foldable phones with its latest release: the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Unveiled amid much anticipation at Wednesday’s Samsung Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea, the state-of-the-art flip phone is an upgrade from its predecessor, the Z Flip 4.

It’s lighter, slimmer, and flaunts a larger 3.4-inch external display, creating a gorgeous piece of tech that starts at $999.

With such a hefty investment in your pocket, securing a reliable case that can withstand drops, bumps, and the occasional accidental dip in the toilet bowl becomes an absolute necessity.

The search for the perfect balance between aesthetic appeal, durability, and cost-effectiveness can be overwhelming. We’ll walk you through our top picks to protect your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Why you need a case for your Galaxy Z Flip 5

Most of us have undoubtedly experienced the terrible feeling of dropping our phones. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, like any gadget, is no exception, and believe us, you wouldn’t want that smooth finish to become chipped or cracked.

A good case can effortlessly shield your phone from such a disaster. But navigating the maze of available options can be daunting, with elements like material, design, and extra features to contemplate. Let’s make it less overwhelming for you.

Considerations in choosing a phone case

Before rushing to hit the ‘buy’ button, consider the following:

Material

A quality phone case not only armors your device but also amplifies its aesthetic. Cases come in various materials, from rubber and plastic to leather and metal. You may want something durable that offers a good grip, or you prioritize aesthetics.

Design

With the Z Flip 5, design compatibility is crucial as the phone’s flip function needs to move smoothly. The case should also offer unrestricted access to the phone’s ports and buttons.

Extras

Got a soft spot for added features? Some cases offer kickstands for comfortable media consumption, while others provide card slots. Choose a feature that best aligns with your lifestyle.

The post Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE won’t be all that affordable after all appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
The existence of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE was leaked way before the recent Unpacked event. We’ve seen multiple leaks regarding Samsung’s upcoming Fan Edition Android tablets. However, the tablet’s pricing is shrouded with mystery.

Samsung quite recently confirmed the existence of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE Plus accidentally through the company’s French website.

And now, thanks to the journalist and tipster Roland Quandt, we finally have some information about the pricing of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and it doesn’t look cheap.

The high price of the vanilla Galaxy Tab S9 FE model

According to Roland Quandt, the vanilla Wi-Fi-only variant of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will cost 63,000 INR in India.

After direct conversion, the price comes to around $761, which is not really cheaper than the premium Galaxy Tab S9 which starts at $799.

That said, due to the import taxes, Samsung devices are usually priced higher in India than in the US. For example, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 costs $200 more in India.

So, considering the Indian pricing, we expect the Galaxy Tab S9 FE to be priced around $649-$699, which is not as expensive as the Indian pricing but not as affordable as previous Fan Edition tablets.

In contrast, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE was released in 2021 and came with a $529 price tag when launched. Unfortunately, Quandt didn’t share any news regarding the “Plus” variant of the Tab S9 FE series.

Although the Galaxy Tab S9 FE tablets were absent from the event, we’re quite sure they exist and are on their way, due to the leaked renders and other notable information.

Now, the Korean company itself has confirmed the existence of two tablets that were rumored to be part of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series. Although we think it was an accident on Samsung’s part.

Galaxy Tab S9 FE series launch seems imminent

The details regarding the upcoming tablets were revealed on the company’s French website, which journalist Roland Quandt later spotted.

The website clearly mentioned two tablets, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus. It’s an official acknowledgment, proving the existence of Samsung’s Fan Edition tablets and hinting that a launch is coming soon.

Previously, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus had both appeared in the form of leaked renders, revealing a slew of new details.

This is the first time Samsung is making Fan Edition tablets with one regular model and one Plus variant. The tablets are expected to sport 10.9-inch and 12.4-inch screens, respectively.

While the overall design of the Tab S9 FE series tablets remains close to the premium Tab S9 series, we expect Samsung to make several changes to maintain an affordable price tag.

The renders of the larger Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus showcase a dual camera module on the back with an LED flash. While the regular Galaxy Tab S9 Plus has a dedicated space for the S Pen attachment, we are unsure about the FE variant getting stylus support.

The standard Tab S9 FE is likely to come with a single camera module on the back, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a smart connector likely for a keyboard attachment, a dual-speaker system, and a similar design.

Currently, there are no words on the pricing of these two tablets, although we expect it to be substantially lower than its premium counterparts. These are Samsung’s first FE series tablets since the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, launched in 2021.

Quick Answer: Yes, Google’s first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold, is set to launch at its yearly developer conference, Google I/O, on May 10, 2023 at a starting price of over $1,700.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 joins the latest generation of Samsung’s foldable smartphones. With any expensive new device, an important question is how durable it is against water exposure.

Fortunately, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has decent water resistance but is not entirely waterproof.

What is an IPX8 Rating?

IPX8 means the phone has passed testing to work after being submerged in fresh water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. It does not cover other liquids like chlorinated pool water. The “X” indicates no rating for dust protection.

IP CodeProtection Against SolidsProtection Against Liquids
IPXXX: Not rated for protection against solidsX: Not rated for protection against liquids
IPX88: Fully protected against dust8: Protected against immersion beyond 1m
IPX77: Fully protected against dust7: Protected against immersion up to 1m
IPX66: Fully protected against dust6: Protected against powerful water jets
IPX55: Protected against dust, limited ingress (no harmful deposit)5: Protected against water jets
IPX44: Protected against dust, limited ingress (no harmful deposit)4: Protected against splashing water
IPX33: Protected against dust, limited ingress (no harmful deposit)3: Protected against spraying water
IPX22: Protected against dust, limited ingress (no harmful deposit)2: Protected against dripping water when tilted up to 15°
IPX11: Protected against solid objects >50mm (no harmful deposit)1: Protected against vertically dripping water
IPX00: No protection against contact and ingress of objects0: No protection against liquids

Should You Get the Phone Wet?

While the IPX8 testing is promising, it’s still best to avoid getting the Galaxy Z Flip 5 wet when possible.

The water resistance may protect against accidental splashes or brief dunks but is not meant for prolonged submersion. Samsung advises keeping the phone away from the pool, ocean, or other bodies of water.

Limitations of Water Resistance

IPX8 water resistance has limits. It does not make the phone waterproof.

Exposing the phone to high water pressure or submerging it deeper or longer than the testing parameters may allow water to enter. Water resistance also degrades over time as internal seals wear.

Use Caution Near Water

In summary, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has decent water resistance but is not waterproof. Avoid getting it wet, and do not deliberately submerge it.

If it does get splashed or wet, dry it off immediately. For heavy water exposure, consider a protective case, but recognize that even IPX8 water resistance has limitations.
