New Galaxy Z Flip 5 leak shows new gapless hinge design

Nothing truly ever disappears if it’s already on the internet.

The second Galaxy Unpacked is almost at the doorstep, with just a little over a week left for Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5.

That said, even this close to the launch event, a new leak has found its way that provides a good look at Samsung’s upcoming flip phone and a slight tit-bit about its capability.

Well-known leaker Roland Quandt recently shared a few Galaxy Z Flip 5 images. These seem to be the official images of Samsung’s upcoming flip phone; however, Quandt took them down later due to some reason, but not before 9to5Google managed to save them.

It’s as they say; nothing truly ever disappears if it’s already on the internet. And thanks to that, we got a good look at the Z Flip images, especially the picture of the side of the flip phone.

After taking a closer look at the leaked images, we realized Samsung managed to close the gap in the Z Flip 5.

It’s surprising because a few days ago, we received a few Galaxy Z Fold 5 images that showed Samsung was able to reduce the gap for sure but failed to eliminate it. So, there was a concern the Z Flip 5 may also feature the same slight gap.

However, that’s not the case, judging from the images. Most importantly, the renders showcase the flip phone’s new cover display and widgets. The images show six widgets optimized specially for the cover display.

The widgets pictured include a calendar, a keyboard to reply to messages, a weather widget, flight boarding passes, a time and battery widget, and call history.

The new widgets look great; however, we are not sure how many more apps will be optimized for the new cover display. At the very least, we know Google is working with Samsung to bring apps like Google Maps, Google Messages, and YouTube to the cover display.

Rest assured, we’ll know more on July 26th at the Galaxy Unpacked event. So, be sure to make a reservation right now to get a $50 credit on your preorder.
